PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device for a rare gas discharge lamp that stabilizes the radiation amount of the lamp. SOLUTION: A rare gas discharge lamp DL is provided with external electrodes 5 and 6. A transformer TR has the primary coil connected in series with a switching element S1. A high frequency voltage generator HC includes a current detector circuit R1, and drive circuit for delivering PWM-controlled drive signal to a switching element. A comparator CC compares the detected voltage of the current detector with a reference voltage. An integrating circuit MS integrates the output of the comparator. A direct current source E1 is connected to the input of the high frequency voltage generator with the output connected to the rare gas discharge lamp. The input voltage of the high frequency voltage generator is PWM-controlled by the drive circuit based on the output of the integrating circuit, stabilized and applied to the switching element. |
