PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device by which an image having excellent gradation reproducibility is formed by highly accurately measuring the density of a controlling toner image. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a toner image forming part 12 to form a toner image on an image carrier 11, a recording medium carrying mechanism 18 to carry a recording medium P along a paper carrying path 16, a transferring/fixing part 14 to transfer and fix the toner image formed on the image carrier 11 on the recording medium P, a controlling toner image density measuring part 21 to measure the density of the controlling toner image on the recording medium P while carrying the recording medium P and a gradation correcting part 40 to correct the gradation of the toner image based on the measured value of the density of the controlling toner image, and the recording medium carrying mechanism 18 carries the recording medium P by the same carrying speed in either of a density measuring mode to measure the density of the controlling toner image on the recording medium P and in an image forming mode to form the image on the recording medium P by forming the toner image on the image carrier 11 based on a picture signal. |
