PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical switching element which has low insertion loss, low crosstalk, high scalability and long-term reliability and enables optical switching. SOLUTION: The optical switching element has a waveguide substrate 32, first and second optical transmission waveguides 34 to 40, 42 to 44, 46 to 48, 50 to 52 and 54 to 56 which are formed by clad layers extending along the waveguide substrate for cores and grooves 58 and 60, movable devices 62, 64, 66 and 68 which have first positions and second positions with respect to these grooves and actuators 70, 72 and 74 which operate these movable devices between the first positions and the second positions. |
