PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber gate opening sensor capable of being remotely monitored with high reliability and eliminating a power source, a mounting method therefor and an optical fiber gate opening monitoring device. SOLUTION: Optical contacts 22-1 and 22-2 for detecting an opening state of a gate are provided to the gate 14 of a channel such as water gate, gutter gate or the like, and information from the optical contacts 22-1 and 22-2 is detected by a detector 20. As a result, remote monitoring can be made by connecting between the gate 14 and detector 20 with the optical fiber 2, and since there is no need to use video camera or the like, it is not required to use a power source around the gate 14, and no trouble occurs by such a portion to promote reliability.
