PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To express an arbitrary three-dimensional pattern by hairline thread grooves. SOLUTION: A recording plane Sxy is defined on an X-Y plane in an X-Y-Z three- dimensional coordinate system, a projection plane Syz on a Y-Z plane and a reference axis R on the Z-axis, and thereby a three-dimensional structure M in an arbitrary shape is defined. A large number of sampling points Q (x, y, z) are defined on the surface of the three-dimensional structure M and a normal vector N at the position of each sampling point Q is determined. An angleξof intersection of a projection vector N* obtained by projecting the normal vector N on the projection plane Syz and the reference axis R is determined and an azimuth angleθbeingθ=ξ/2 is defined. An azimuth vector in the direction corresponding to the azimuth angleθis defined on a projection point P (x, y, 0) obtained by projecting the sampling point Q on the recording plane Sxy and thereby a vector field is formed on the recording plane Sxy. By forming a large number of hairline thread grooves extending in the direction along this vector field, as an indented pattern, a three-dimensional pattern of the three-dimensional structure M can be expressed in a simulated manner by anisotropic reflection of the pattern.
