PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent suction of air to a gate pump by suppressing the generation of a vertical revolving flow and an air suction vortex even when the water level of a water passage situated upper stream is lowered to a low level at which a gate pump is sunk in water, to prevent the generation of vibration and noise, and to perform drainage of a large quantity of drain through full speed operation of the gate pump. SOLUTION: Gate pumps 6 and 6 are incorporated in a gate 5 openably supported through elevation movement at a gate 4 made of concrete built in a channel 1. An air suction vortex suppressing part 8 made of concrete having a guide surface 7 inclining at a grade gradually falling from the upper stream side toward the downstream side is integrally built at the gate 4 made of concrete in a state to be positioned opposite to the vertical front 5A of the gate 5.
