PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a decrease in the quantity of light of LD outputs with time as a result of a small capacity of a capacitor and prevent an increase of a circuit size and the number of parts when APC is carried out by a CPU or the like. SOLUTION: In the image-forming apparatus, capacitors C1 and C2 are charged and discharged in accordance with a monitor current of a photodetecting element 9 for detecting a laser light from a laser light source 1. The current of the laser light source 1 is controlled by potentials of the capacitors C1 and C2, so that the quantity of light is automatically adjusted. The apparatus is provided with a means SW3 for switching capacities of the capacitors C1 and C2 according to the potentials of the capacitors C1 and C2.
