PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two direction taper clutch causing no play in a lock condition and having large rigidity for torque load. SOLUTION: A cam groove 11 forming a wedge-shaped space between a conical face 10 formed at outer periphery of an inner ring 3 and a cylindrical face 9 provided at inner periphery of an outer ring 2 is formed on the conical face 10. A tapered roller 16 is stored in a pocket 15 of a holder 4 assembled between the outer ring 2 and the inner ring 3. An operation mechanism which presses the holder 4 by a corrugated spring 26 in the direction in which the tapered roller 16 moves using its small end face as a front side and moves the holder 4 in the axial direction against elasticity of the corrugated spring 26 is provided. A spring member 17 is assembled between the holder 4 and the tapered roller 16 to press a large end face of the tapered roller 16, and the whole tapered roller 16 come into line-contact with a bottom face of the cam groove 11 and the cylindrical face 9 of the outer ring 2, respectively, when the holder 4 moves in the axial direction by pressing the corrugated spring 26 to eliminate play and increase the rigidity for torque load. |
