PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a folding portable telephone system capable of displaying and scrolling non-voice information such as received characters and diagrams so as to be able to be seen in its folded and compact state and retrieving the non-voice information hierarchically to display the non-voice information. SOLUTION: A 1st displaying means 4 composed of a liquid crystal display device, etc., is provided on the outer surface of a 1st main body housing 1. A non-voice radio communication service start button 5, scroll buttons 6a and 6b and a selection decision button 7 are provided in the neighborhood of the means 4. A 2nd displaying means 8 is provided on the inner surface of the 1st main body housing, and an antenna 9 is provided on a side of a 2nd main body housing 2 in a freely and obliquely upward insertable and extractable way. A battery 18 is included in the housing 1 and a reed switch 19 is included in the housing 2. When the main body housings are closed and the battery 18 and the switch 19 are close, the switch 19 is turned ON, and when the main body housings are opened and the battery 18 and the switch 19 are separated, the switch 19 is turned OFF to detect the opened/closed states of the main body housings.
