PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a more faithful identification function to a rugged shape part 11b obtainable with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: A magnetic pole part 12 for detection is relatively moved along a rugged shape 11b on the identification surface 11a of a metal body 11 to be detected, and the magnetic pole part 13 for reference is arranged so as to maintain almost fixed facing arrangement relation at all times with a reference surface 13a different from the identification surface 11a. The fluctuation of detection output in the magnetic pole part 12 for the detection, that is the detection output along the rugged shape 11b on the identification surface 11a of the metal body 11 to be detected, is faithfully extracted.
