摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a trouble-generated portion without being limited by a measuring distance, to eliminate requirement for signal switching in response to the measuring distance, and to confirm a line terminal position without depending on a line length. SOLUTION: This instrument is provided with a measuring signal generating part 3 for transmitting a stepped waveform signal comprising a prescribed voltage toward a line 2 of a measuring object, a voltage measuring part 4 for monitoring a voltage of a signal transmitting end of the line from which the stepped waveform signal is transmitted and for measuring its value, a waveform storing part 5 for storing measured voltage signal waveforms, a propagation velocity ratio setting part 6 for setting a propagation velocity ratio k with respect to a luminous flux of an electric signal propagating inside an electric wire material constituting the line, a trouble detecting and processing part 7 for calculating a distance upto a trouble-generated position on the line based on a changed position of the voltage signal waveform stored in the storage part 5 and the signal propagation velocity ratio k set in the setting part 6, and for discriminating kinds of the troubles base on a plus or minus condition varying in the voltage waveform, and a display part 8 for displaying a detected result by a prescribed method.</p>
