PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone system capable of automatically selecting an appropriate incoming call notifying method in accordance with a device connected to the portable telephone system. SOLUTION: When a controlling part recognizes that an external device is connected, the controlling part inputs each data in a row corresponding to the connected device in an incoming call notifying method selection table. Then, the controlling part sets a vibrator item in an incoming call notifying method setting table to 'stop' when vibrator vibration stop is set in the inputted data. When the controlling part recognizes that the external device is removed, the controlling part sets the contents of the 1st row of the incoming call notifying method selection table in the incoming call notifying method setting table. That is, the contents of the incoming call notifying method setting table are returned to the set state of a normal mode. The controlling part performs incoming call notification according to the contents of the incoming call notifying method setting table when an incoming call is received.
