PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device small in size can having high image quality and high durability. SOLUTION: This image forming device is typically provided with an image carrier for carrying a latent image, a developing means for developing the latent image and forming a toner image, a transfer means being nearer to and away from the image carrier, a driving means for driving the transfer means and a driving coupling means for transmitting driving to the transfer means from the driving means. Then, the driving coupling means is set in a non-coupling state when the transfer means is separated from the image carrier and set in a coupling state when the transfer means abuts on the image carrier. Besides, the image forming device is provided with a detection means detecting the coupling or the non-coupling of the driving coupling means. |
