PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone with a hook to be hung on an ear which allows speech communication to be performed easily without using a conventional hand-free device or without using both hands and is also economical by hanging the portable telephone itself on the ear. SOLUTION: A hook 2 having a shape to be hung on the root part of an ear is attached to a portable telephone 1 so that the telephone 1 is prevented from falling from the ear and the speaker 4 part of the telephone 1 is also arranged at the position of the ear when the hook 2 is hung on the root of the ear. The telephone 1 is desirably provided with a biasing means that pushes the speaker 2 part of the telephone 1 toward the ear with the hook 2 hung on the root part of the ear. Further, the telephone 1 can be used more easily by housing the hook 2 integrally in the telephone 1 or making the hook 2 attachable and detachable to/from the telephone 1.
