The invention relates to an automation system, comprising a controller, in particular, a decentralised control unit and several input/output units, i.e. input devices and/or output devices and/or combined input/output devices. Communication between the controller and the input/output units which can be remote-controlled, takes place via radio. To this end, both the controller (1) and the remote-control input/output units (2 to 5) are equipped with appropriate radio transmitters, radio receivers and antennae (6 to 15).
