EMERGENCY MESSAGING SYSTEM

An emergency notification system using selective call communications techniques is provided for communicating human and property safety information to and from recipients scattered over wide geographic areas. A computer (14) controlled head end communications interface adds subaddress information to a message to target intended recipients. A media router (24) directs the message through appropriate transport media in accordance with the address information. Preferably, the messages are communicated, at least in part, over existing paging systems.
