Information traffic through a network link (46) carrying first and second differing information signals is monitored by traffic monitoring circuitry (34) and a server platform (30) including processor circuitry (86, 88, 92, 9 6, 98) operating cooperatively with the monitoring circuitry (34). The first an d second information signals each have a plurality of information layers and a plurality of packets. The pluralities of packets of the first and second signals are each segmented into first and second pluralities of information cells and the first and second pluralities of information cells are interspersed together in the information traffic. An interceptor (40) couple d to the network link (46) intercepts a portion of the interspersed first and second pluralities of information cells, and strips an information layer fro m the intercepted portions to provide remaining information signals. The intercepted interspersed packets of at least one of the first and second pluralities of information packets are reassembled and analyzed by a process or (88) of the server platform (30).
