Plastic split sleeve for ferrule connection

A plastic optical alignment sleeve for conversion connector is provided which directly holds and connects optical fiber cords (09A,09B) including ferrules of different diameters (07A,07B) each having single-mode optical fibers inserted therein and which has high dimensional precision, mechanical strength, reliability and excellent cost effectiveness. The plastic optical alignment split sleeve (08) for conversion connector is installed in an adapter. It connects the optical fibers by inserting ferrules with different outer diameters. The plastic optical alignment split sleeve (08) in its basic geometry comprises: left and right thick hollow cylinders differing from each other in inner diameter and thickness; and a joint part. The plastic split sleeve is formed of a noncrystalline thermoplastic resin or thermosetting resin or of a resin compound. The slit is formed through the left and right thick hollow cylinders and the joint part. <IMAGE>
