PURPOSE: A lubrication apparatus for hermetic reciprocating compressor is provided to improve efficiency and reliability of the compressor by preventing oil deficiency during an early stage of compressor operation. CONSTITUTION: A lubrication apparatus sucks the oil from the lower portion of the compressor into a crank shaft(3) through an oil pickup tube(34), and feeds thus-sucked oil to a connecting rod and an upper bearing(10) through an oil hole(31), an oil storage unit(32) and an oil slot(33). The oil hole of the crank shaft has a check valve(35), as an oil discharge prevention member, for preventing the pumped oil from being discharged to the lower portion of the compressor due to the weight of the oil upon compressor shutdown.
