PURPOSE: A credit card user authentication system is provided to authenticate the credit card user by using an authentication function embedded in the credit card itself without using an external device before using the credit card so that it can prevent basically an illegal use of the credit card. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a verification setting module(220), a verification display(230), a verification storage(240), and a verification controller(210). The verification setting module(220) allows a user to input a PIN(Personal Identification Number) or a phone approval assurance number necessary for a phone approval of a credit card. The verification display(230) echoes and displays the PIN or the phone approval assurance number input via the verification setting module(220). The verification storage(240) stores random numbers corresponding to the PIN or the preset numbers to be transmitted from a card company. The verification controller(210) stores the PIN, input via the verification setting module(220), at the verification storage(240), echoes the phone approval assurance number on the verification display(230), and determines if the input PIN is identical to the PIN stored in an IC chip of the credit card.
