PURPOSE: A common/individual abbreviated dialing method in a private switching system is provided to execute common abbreviated dialing service through the confirmation of source information displayed on the display window according to the input of a called subscriber's name and to easily and reliably carry out individual abbreviated dialing service through the source information confirmation of priority granted according to call frequency. CONSTITUTION: If a user pushes a mode selection button to execute individual abbreviated dialing using his digital terminal(S201), a control block of a private switching system approaches a mode to execute individual abbreviated dialing according an input digit signal and accesses a database storing priority dependent on call frequency. Then the control block displays the caller information of the first priority on the display window so that the user confirms whether it is consistent with desired source information for individual abbreviated dialing(S202,S203). If it is the user's desired source information, the user pushes an input button(S206). Sensing the digit signal of the input button, the control block seizures a trunk through a trunk processing block and attempts calling using source information displayed on the display window(S207). If a response is detected from the called number, the control block forms a call path so that a telephone call can be achieved(S208).
