PURPOSE: A circuit for displaying the remaining amount of a battery in a portable phone is provided to represent a use time of a portable phone into a number and a letter without changing a size of the existing portable phone. CONSTITUTION: A circuit for displaying the remaining amount of a battery comprises a battery protecting part(52), a memory(42), a fuel gauge circuit(41), an MSM(Mobile Station Modem,43). The battery protecting part(52) selectively controls an output of a power source supplied from a battery cell(51) to a portable phone and the memory(42) saves characteristic information of the battery cell(51). The fuel gauge circuit(41) detects voltage of the battery cell(51) and calculates the remaining amount of the battery cell(51) using the characteristic information in order to output the remaining amount into a digital signal. The MSM(Mobile Station Modem)(43) displays a number or letter data for displaying the remaining amount of the battery according to the digital signal provided from the fuel gauge circuit(41) in an LCD of the portable phone.
