PERFORATED SOUND ABSORBING PANEL AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a perforated sound absorbing panel capable of closing a large number of small diameter holes and exhibiting the desired sound absorption performance without increasing the costs of raw material and manufacture, and a method of manufacture. SOLUTION: The perforated sound absorbing panel 1 comprises a base 2 with a number of small-diameter through holes 3 bored therethrough and a relatively thin surface layer covering sheet material 10 bonded to the surface of the base. The front opening of each through hole is closed by the sheet material. The sound absorbing panel is manufactured by boring the number of small-diameter through holes 3 through the base 2 and laminating the surface of the base with the sheet material. The perforated sound absorbing panel is used as an interior panel that can be provided on the ceiling or wall surface of a building, and the sheet material faces indoors. The back opening of each through-hole opens to an attic area or an in-wall area.
