PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which can attain reduction of running cost and toner consumption by saving excessive toner sticking to the latent image on a photoreceptor which satisfying the image quality request by a user. SOLUTION: Since the reflection density of the output image is saturated at a point that the development contrast is high, the image density appears identical to a user, regardless of the toner quantity on the image beyond that, and the toner is wasted. In this image forming device, patches are formed on a photosensitive drum with the density from A0H to FFH, measured by a sensor, and a part where the density difference of two adjoining patches becomes below 0.05 is defined as the development contrast. Since the developing bias is constant in this case, the development contrast is controlled by the potential of the maximum image part in the case of forming an electrostatic latent image on the photosensitive drum. This means the development contrast is controlled by the maximum light quantity of a laser. In the case the density difference becomes 0.06 by B0H and 0.00 by C0H, the C0H is made to be the maximum light quantity as the laser power. |
