PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a half fitting preventing connector capable of preventing halfway fitting when fitting a first connector and a second connector and enhancing workability of fitting/releasing processes. SOLUTION: The half fitting preventing connector 1 of the present invention includes a slider 31 preventing halfway fitting and simultaneously having locking action and received within a housing 4 constituting the first connector 2, and a locking portion 23 provided in a housing 16 constituting the second connector 3. By pushing the locking portion 23 in contact with a contact portion 37 of the slider 31 to generate a repulsion force due to elasticity of a spring portion 32 provided in the slider 31, halfway fitting is prevented when the first and second connector 2, 3 are fitted together. Also, if fitting continues until reaching a normal fitting position, the locking portion 23 provided in the second connector 3 is locked by a flexing portion 36 provided in the slider 31 to realize complete fitting. In addition, when fitting of the first and second connector 2, 3 is released, the fitting/releasing is achieved by pushing a releasing portion 11, pushing up a locking release protrusion 11c in a direction of an arrow P2, and removing the locking portion 23 from the flexing portion 36.
