PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an optimal focusing state always even when a subject is dark. SOLUTION: Among the area of a subject to which auxiliary light is irradiated, an area having brightness at a level equal to or higher than a prescribed level (desirably at a maximum level) is detected and set to be an AF area to always detect an optimal focusing state. Among the divided areas of a CCD image pickup element, an area except the AF area is swept out speedily to realize speedy AF processing. |
