<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving picture reproducing device which uses simpler constitution and control to perform reproducing in the fast forward mode and the rewinding mode without interruption. SOLUTION: A moving picture reproducing device reads in and decodes a one-frame portion of picture data encoded as an I picture, a P picture, and a B picture of MPEG standards and displays a picture of one frame in accordance with decoded picture data and continuously repeats this operation to reproduce a moving picture. When the device displays the P picture or the B picture of one frame in order to perform reproducing in the fast forward mode or the rewinding mode, an intra-frame encoded part detector 6 and an operation control circuit 32 are used to decode only picture data, which is obtained by intra-frame code encoding, in a moving picture decoding circuit 31, and only a picture corresponding to picture data decoded by using the operation control circuit 32 and a picture memory control circuit 42 is updated.</p> |
