PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit and receive information showing a detailed printing state by an apparatus, which is connected through an interface based upon IEEE 1394 standards, to prompt a user to take a proper measure. SOLUTION: This processor consists of an STB 3 and a printer 5. The STB 3 is provided with an input data conversion part 13 which generates a print state information request, which requests print state information including error information and warning information, and outputs this request included in a packet based upon IEEE 1394 standards and inputs a response to the print state information request, and the printer 5 is provided with a data input part 31 which inputs the print state information request including picture data, error information, and warning information and generates printing state information at the time of printing a response to the request and outputs generated information included in a packet based upon IEEE 1394 standards to the data conversion part 13 of the STB 3.
