The software is encrypted based on a unique, unchangeable identification code that is only assigned to the software-control device in question. The identification code may be the serial number of the device. The key for the encryption may be selected based on the identification code and is unique. Independent claims are included for a method of transferring software to a software-controlled device and for a software-controlled device.
