An offset printer has a printing blanket with a printing blanket base, situated on a printing blanket cylinder. The aim of the invention is to enab le materials for printing which have uneven surfaces to be processed in offset printers of this type with a good printing quality. To this end, the inventi on provides for a printing blanket base with a dimensionally stable support lay er and a reversibly compressible functional layer.
