This safety seat upper and lower sections in which the upper section can slide forward on the lower. Fixed to the upper section of the seat are the piston rods (2) of one or more shock absorber units, whose liquid filled cylinders (1) are connected to the lower section of the seat. The cylinders (1) are connected by a pipe (3), via an adjustable throttle (4) and a reversible non-return valve unit (5) to a hydrauilc storage tank (6). This allows the upper section of the seat to be returned to its original position by reversing the non-return valve unit.
