<p>The protective gas streams are applied at free different locations, viz: one to the surface of the slag bath and the consumable electrode, one into the melt at melt-pool slag interface, and one onto the ingot surface, where it emerges from the mould. The method is cheaper and better than vacuum arc melting; furthermore the plant is simple and inexpensive.</p> |
