A light diffusing screen comprises a sheet (20) of material having one surface provided with a ribbed structure comprising a series of parallel first ribs or grooves (5), of angular or lenticular profile. The major surface of each said first rib or groove (5) is provided with fine structure or texture comprising an array of generally parallel ribs or grooves (7), substantially narrower than the first ribs or grooves (5) and running across the first ribs or grooves (5). The screen may be manufactured by laser machining of a workpiece raster fashion using a pulsed laser.
