The invention relates to a shifting device comprising a shifting lever for an automatic transmission of a motor vehicle which comprises a release mechanism (5) for releasing the shifting lever by means of a manual operating element (4). The shifting lever can be moved in at least one shifting channel and between at least two different shifting positions and can at least partially be locked in said shifting positions according to different configurations of the vehicle. The invention is characterised in that a springy drive-train component (1, 2) is provided between the manual operating element (4) and the release mechanism (5).
