METHOD FOR DISTURBING AND CONTROLLING COMMUNICATION OF INSECT PEST

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for disturbing and controlling the communication of insect pests with a sex pheromone by which the sex pheromone concentration in the air in the community of plant bodies is kept at a high concentration over a long period and higher communication disturbing effects can be produced with a constant amount of the sex pheromone while suppressing the release rate of the sex pheromone from a dispenser to an economical level. SOLUTION: The sex pheromone is diffused in a field scattered with water so as to provide 20-100% moisture content of soil in the growing period of insect pests, in an open field where the soil surface is covered with a covering body more slightly adsorbing the sex pheromone than the soil surface or a greenhouse field where a part or all of the soil surface and the inner surface of the greenhouse is covered with the covering body more slightly adsorbing the sex pheromone than the soil surface. Thereby, the adsorption of the sex pheromone in the soil can be prevented to resultantly keep the sex pheromone concentration in the air at the high concentration over the long period.
