PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a triketone-based compound useful as an active ingredient of an herbicide. SOLUTION: This triketone-based compound is expressed by formula 1 [W is O or S; (y) is 1-6; A is a 5 or 6-membered saturated heterocyclic ring containing at least 1 kind of 1-2 hetero atoms selected from a group consisting of O and S; R1 is an alkyl or the like; R2 is a halogen or the like; R3, R4, R6, R7 and R8 are each H or an alkyl; R5 is H, an alkyl or a cycloalkyl, and R5 and R8 together are allowed to form a 3-6-membered saturated carbon ring; and R5 and R6 together are allowed to form a ketone].
