PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a root canal filling material having high fluidity before being cured, capable of especially reaching details such as lateral branches of the root canal, and enabling a filler to closely fill the root canal without contraction after being cured. SOLUTION: The root canal filling material comprises (a) a hydrophilic polymerizable monomer, (b) a polymerization initiator, (c) a radiopaque filler and (d) water. The root canal filling material is produced by preparing a composition comprising (a) 5-90 wt.% of the hydrophilic polymerizable monomer, (b) 0.01-20 wt.% of the polymerization initiator, (c) 5-80 wt.% of the radiopaque filler and (d) 3-50 wt.% of water and setting the saturation water content of a cured product obtained by polymerizing the hydrophilic polymerizable monomer (a) being 5-50 wt.%.
