PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound having excellent collateral vasodilative action and anti-stenocardiac action, thus useful as a stenocardia preventive or therapeutic agent. SOLUTION: This new compound is an optically active thiazolidinone derivative of formula I [R<1> is H, a 1-4C alkyl, (alkyl-, alkoxy or halogen-substituted) phenyl or (alkyl-, alkoxy- or halogen-substituted) phenyl-1-2C alkyl; R<2> is a 1-6C alkyl; (n) is 1 or 2], e.g. (4R)-N-[(1S)-1-methyl-2-nitroxyethyl]-2- oxothiazolidin-4-yl-carboxamide. The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, by reaction between a compound of formula II and a compound of formula III. A thia- or oxazolidinone derivative of formula IV [W is S or O; X is N(R<3> ) (R<3> is H, an alkyl, etc.); R<4> and R<5> are each H, an alkyl, aryl, etc.; R<6> is H, an alkyl, etc.; A is an alkylene] or its salt is useful as a preventive or therapeutic agent for ulcerous diseases. |
