PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for inspecting a gauge, and a wireless inspection system using the same are provided to considerably reduce production cost of the apparatus, and to accurately and rapidly calculate the amount of urban gas or tap water used. CONSTITUTION: A wireless inspection device(110) transmits image data about the usage amount of urban gas or tap water to a central processing unit(120) in which the image data is calculated by using a high capacity program, thereby the usage amount is more accurately and rapidly processed. More particularly, the inspection device inspects image data about numbers displayed on an instrument board of a gauge, and then transmits the image data of compression state to the central processing unit by wireless. The central processing unit restores and saves the original image data after decoding the compressed image data, and then calculates the usage amount by using the restored image data, and finally issues a notice for payment of water rates or urban gas rates.
