A suction and exhaust device wherein air having a predetermined air supply pressure and introduced into the upper region of a predetermined supply space from a supply duct (5) is supply as an air curtain flow into the outer periphery of a predetermined local region through a peripherally opened lower air outlet (3), while the air in the predetermined local region surrounded by the air curtain flow is sucked through suction ports (2b) inside the outlet (3) into the upper region of a suction duct (2) extending into the outside through the middle of the supply space in a direction opposite to the air supply direction and is exhausted. The supply space is divided into two chambers, upper and lower, by a partition plate (41): a first supply space (4c) on the upper side into which air from the supply duct (5) is introduced and a second supply space (4d) which spreads in the direction of the air outlet (3). The first and second supply spaces (4c, 4d) are communicated with each other through annular flow equalizing channel (40R, 50R) of small channel diameter vertically extending in the outer periphery of the suction duct (2). This uniformizes the flow rate distribution of the supply air flow from the air outlet and forms a stabilized air curtain flow.
