LAMINATED BASE FILM FOR THERMAL TRANSFER RECORDING MEDIUM

A laminated film for thermal transfer which is excellent in adhesion to an ink layer and dimensional stability even when used under severe conditions and which retains the satisfactory adhesion regardless of whether the ink layer is of the fusion type or sublimation type. The laminated film comprises (A) a biaxially oriented polyester film having a degree of planar orientation of 0.178 to 0.300 or (A') a biaxially oriented polyester film having a secondary crystallization temperature of 210 to 240 DEG C, a density of 1.390 to 1.410, and a machine-direction Young's modulus of 4,500 MPa or higher and (B) a readily bondable layer formed on at least one side of the biaxially oriented polyester film.
