<p>A game controller of the type held in two hands for controlling electronic software games, including a housing (20), a plurality of depressible surfaces (22) at least in part exposed on the housing with the depressible surfaces in operational association with electricity manipulating devices (32, 34) within the housing and controlled by pressing the depressible surfaces in order to controll electronic software. At least one of the electricity manipulating devices is a pressure-sensitive variable-conductance sensor (26) for creating an analog electrical output proportional to varying physical pressure applied to the associated depressible surface. The analog electrical output is interpreted and utilized in controlling the action intensity of electronic game character imagery on a display. In one embodiment, the pressure-sensitive variable-conductance sensor is a single depressible button; another embodiment includes a depressible 4-way rocker (42) and resilient dome caps. Also disclosed are methods of use and manufacture of game controllers having at least one pressure-sensitive variable-conductance analog sensor.</p> |
