1415384 Finned heat exchange tubes LUWA AG 15 Feb 1973 [18 Feb 1972] 7479/73 Heading F4S In a heat exchanger in which a tube 10 extends through a plurality of transverse, discoidal fins 12, a layer (e:g. 3 to 5 Á thick and not shown) of an electrically insulating material (e.g. a phenolic resin) is provided on a surface 18 of each fin to prevent actual contact between the fin and the tube and thus inhibit galvanic corrosion arising where the tube and fin are of different materials such as copper for the tube and steel or aluminium for the fim. The tube is normally expanded to secure the fin to the tube. The coating may be applied only at the surface 18 or over the entire fin area. As shown, the surface 18 is the bore of a collar 13 formed when the fin is stamped out from a strip of the fin material. The strip may be precoated with the insulating material.
|
