A battery has a wound assembly of a separator (5) sandwiched between positive and negative electrodes (3,4), at least one of the electrodes having a projecting connection and the separator having a projecting portion interposed between the edges of the electrodes and the folded connection. The separator (5) includes two layers (5a,5b) formed by the two halves of the same strip, the projecting part being located at the central part of the strip. The central part of the strip may be formed by the strip itself or by an additional reinforcing layer (7). |
