A wireless data input device comprises a ball 4 which projects from the lower surface of a body 1 and is accessible from the upper surface of the body so that the device can be used as a mouse or as a track ball, a rotational transducer (5, Fig.4) for producing electrical signals derived from rotation of the ball 4, rechargeable batteries (7), a transmitter (6, Fig.7) for transmitting the electrical signals, and a plurality of push buttons 8-11 for producing electrical signals when the buttons are pushed. Buttons 8 and 9 are readily accessible when the device is used as a mouse and buttons 10 and 11 are readily accessible when the device is used as a track ball, with buttons 8 and 10 producing a first signal, and buttons 9 and 11 producing a second signal.
