A method is for the staged combustion of a fuel/combustion air mixture, in which sub-stoichiometric combustion takes place in a first slow combustion section and the CO content in the combustion gas is reduced to an admissible value by the supply of oxygen in a second slow combustion section. It is proposed that the fuel/combustion air mixture be divided between two partial burners (10, 12) or (50, 52) Fig 2 and the mixing ratio in the partial quantities be set so that rich combustion takes place in one partial burner (10 or 50) and lean combustion takes place in the other partial burner (12 or 52). Then, the combustion gases are routed into a downstream reaction chamber (36 or 76), in which the CO in the one combustion gas is reacted with the O2 in the other combustion gas. In this way, the fuel and combustion air can be mixed without difficulty upstream of the combustion zone of the blower burner. <IMAGE> |
