PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for sorting document, with which documents can be sorted/arranged for each of topics. SOLUTION: Concerning the document sorting method for automatically sorting document sets according to the contents of documents, words in respective document data of a document set composed of plural documents are analyzed (S2), a document feature vector and a word feature vector expressed in the same feature space are generated on the basis of the analyzed result (S3), the document set is sorted into plural partial document sets for each of feature dimensions on the basis of a value found by shading the generated document feature vector to each feature dimension (S4), a word group is similarly sorted into plural partial word sets for each of feature dimensions (S6), the sorted result is displayed (S8), the partial document set for performing set operation among plural partial document sets is designated while using the displayed sorted result (S9) and the operation between the designated partial document sets is performed by a designated operating method (S10).
