PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology capable of enhancing the reliability of an airtightness test and conducting the airtightness test without spending long time. SOLUTION: This airtightness tester 10 is a device for checking the airtightness of a gap between a plughole 14 and a plug tube 16. The airtightness tester 10 contains an upper elastic ring 40 arranged in the plug tube 16; a lower elastic ring 42 arranged in the plughole 14; and a ring diameter extending mechanism 45 for extending the outer diameter of each ring. The ring diameter extending mechanism 45 extends the upper elastic ring 40 smaller than the inner diameter of the plug tube 16 to the diameter larger than the inner diameter of the plug tube 16, and extends the lower elastic ring 42 smaller than the diameter of the plug hole 14 to the diameter larger than the diameter of the plug hole 14.
