PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of sufficiently shortening a defrosting time and continuously heating when defrosted. SOLUTION: When defrosted, a first four-way valve 2 is set to a heating drive mode. An opening/closing valve 8 is closed for a predetermined time, and a first expansion valve 5 is simultaneously fully opened. Then, a second expansion valve 7 is operated as a throttle. After a predetermined time is elapsed, the valve 8 is opened, a part of the discharge refrigerant gas of a compressor 1 is distributed to a heat exchanger 4 for a predetermined time. After a predetermined time is elapsed, the valve 8 is closed. Then, a second four-way valve 3 is switched, an exit/entrance of the exchanger 4 is switched, and the refrigerant is fed. After the predetermined time is further elapsed, the valve 8 is opened, a part of the discharge refrigerant gas of the compressor 1 is distributed to the exchanger 4 for a predetermined time. After the predetermined time is elapsed, the valve 8 is closed, the valve 3 is returned to the position of switching the valve 3. A second expansion valve 7 is fully opened and the valve 5 is controlled to be throttled.
