<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image compression method for multi-spectral image and an image compressor which can enhance a compression rate for compressing a plurality of spectral images obtained by dividing a photographing wavelength band into a plurality of bands with less visually deteriorated image so as to enhance processing of the image data. SOLUTION: The multi-spectral image is divided into a plurality of tile images, the major component of each tile image is analyzed to obtain a plurality of pairs of the major component vectors and the major component images of the multi-spectral images by each tile image an optimum main component number optically representing image information of the multi-spectral images is calculated to obtain the optimum main component vector and an optimum main component image corresponding thereto by each tile image, then the image data of the multi-spectral images are compressed into the optimum main component number, the optimum main component image, the optimum main component vector and the tile image information by each tile image.</p> |
